The Power of Words

The Power of Words

£250.00

2pm Friday, December 5th, Soho, London

There are only 26 characters in the English alphabet. Yet the things you can achieve with them are infinite. In this workshop, full of inspiration both for hardened wordsmiths and less confident writers, we unleash the power of words.

By looking at instances of excellent writing not just from advertising but from fiction, poetry, letters and the wider world, we discover simple strategies everyone can use to make their copy more rewarding, impactful and effective.

Along the way you’ll be writing a letter of complaint - with some very particular constraints - and a six word memoir.

Take aways  …

  • How to sneak up on your script

  • Write first, evaluate later

  • How to tell a simple truth in a surprising way

  • Rhythm and how to find it

  • Discovering the universal in the particular

  • Creating momentum

  • Syntactic surprise

  • Employing the overnight test

  • Leaving space for the reader

  • Making cliché work for you

  • Stephen King’s 10% rule

Outcome

Shorter, more powerful copy across all touchpoints. More confidence working with words and a more innovative use of them.

Everyone attending will receive a full deck of all the key content.
